Executive Director

After graduating from The Royal Welsh College of Music in Drama, I embarked on a completely different path following the birth of my son, Osian. Osian was born with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). I felt a strong desire to create a world that felt safe for us as a family, so with a lot of support from my sisters, we set up Oshi’s World. Over the years, I realised that my theatrical background and lived experience of profound disability can exist together to create something very special.

This belief was strengthened when Oshi and I watched a remarkable piece of theatre by Norwich based Frozen Light Theatre Company. During the performance, Oshi experienced the story on an intimate and sensorial level that I had never seen before. In other words, in his language. This opened my mind to what we should be offering to audiences with profound disabilities.

Suddenly, it felt as if the theatre was a space for him. It was incredibly moving to see him welcomed and celebrated in this way and the whole experience was extremely special for Oshi and I. Oshi was seen.

I am passionate about the creative arts, but I am most passionate about the inclusion of profoundly disabled people within this sector and of course, the world.

I am so excited to be on this journey with a community that is incredibly close to my heart.

Artistic Director

As an artist, I have always been hugely passionate about the importance of access within the arts and the need to look beyond catering for what is currently considered a “normative” within theatre.

With a professional career as a performer spanning over 15 years, I have had the privilege of performing for a wide range of audiences with a wide variety of needs and tastes - from children's theatre, to regional touring, to west-end musicals. Through this work, I have seen firsthand how different audiences respond to theatre, and how in order to make work that is engaging and meaningful, we must first gain an understanding of what feels important and exciting to the audiences we serve.

Working alongside Anna and the team, I aim to support systemic change towards a more inclusive practice within the arts in Wales and beyond. As artistic director of Oshi’s World, I aim to support our creatives in making work that is exciting, joyous and wondrous for audiences who I believe have often waited too long to experience this. I feel genuinely privileged and hugely inspired to be a part of this change.

Producer

I first became involved in Oshi’s World through listening to and absorbing all the passionate chats of Katie and Anna. I realised how determined they were to set up this company and I wanted to support them in any way I could. Fortunately, they were just as keen to have me on board and we embarked on this very exciting journey together.

My role within Oshi’s World draws upon my background as an actor musician and more recent experience as a theatre producer. I am responsible for bringing  the creative team together, managing the budget and connecting with other theatres. I also do my very best to ensure that the team is well looked after and everyone feels supported.

By nature, I am very inquisitive and enjoy throwing myself into the unknown. This feels like a very handy space to be operating from when entering the creative worlds we are exploring within our productions. I believe in building positive environments where we can all learn from each other. It is a privilege to be a part of making this happen for underrepresented audiences in Wales.

Graphic Designer

I have been friends with Anna for over 20 years and have watched Osian grow up into a super hero over the last ten years. I've been lucky enough to volunteer my time with Oshi's World from the beginning, helping the team bring together their design ideas, marketing material and their previous website while watching the chairty grow.

With a professional career in graphic design spanning over 15 years, I've worked with charities within Cardiff from Calon hearts to Tenovus and brands further afield in London and Germany. Working on branding businesses, creating exciting logo design and accessible websites.

It's been a pleasure working with Anna and Katie over the last few months. Bringing their vision together, designing their new website and building a coherent brand to help accelerate Oshi's world into it's next chapter.
