The evolution of Oshi’s World

Inspired by Anna’s son Osian, the original goal of Oshi’s World was to provide a space where disabled people could enjoy a range of activities and therapies. Creative sessions and experiences such as trips to the Sherman theatre, sessions with Live Music Now and sensory storytelling workshops, were part of what was offered and proved a big hit.
It soon became clear that creative activities were not always accessible or readily available. Often, wheelchair spaces were restricted and too far away from the stage for individuals with profound and multiple disabilities to engage with the story.
As the world resumed post covid, Oshi’s World embarked on a natural evolution from not just facilitating ad-hoc creative experiences, but exploring and creating the work for themselves.
Katie Elin-Salt and Anna Liddell have been friends for many years following their time at drama school together. Katie had supported Oshi’s World previously as a musician and workshop leader and was excited and inspired by the idea of creating a theatre company for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
After a period of exploring initial ideas during sensory workshops, 2024 saw the first sharing of their piece “Greenfingers” - directed by Francesca Pickard and performed at the Sherman Theatre. This piece aims to be Oshi’s World’s first production, and the first of its kind in Wales.
Oshi’s world is passionate about this new chapter in their story, and about the meaningful change they are hoping to create with their advocacy for inclusivity within theatre.
They are hugely excited about the next steps!
