Chair, Trustee

I am a Script Editor for television productions with a degree in drama. My first experience of inclusive theatre was at University, working with a charity outreach into schools. I met Katie through my work with emerging writers and was instantly drawn to her way of storytelling and have also seen how Anna has created inclusive spaces for her son, Oshi, and many others. I am passionate about Oshi’s World's creative ability to bring the magic of storytelling to everyone but first and foremost centring the experience of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

I'm mum of 2 daughters, Charlea and Eva, partner of Ben, sister of Anna and Rhian and Aunty to Oshi, Dela, Bess, Jaz, Luc, Lily and Gabriella. I work as a paediatric nurse, currently specialising in Hereditary Anaemias. I have over 20 years experience working in paediatric nursing and use this experience to inform my role within the charity. I enjoy socialising of any kind – if there’s a party – I'm there, which means I am usually the one organising our fund-raisers. I've always loved going to the theatre and am so excited that the charity will be able to offer accessible theatre to people with PMLD as everyone should be given an opportunity to enjoy the arts.

I trained initially as a primary school teacher, specialising in music & the creative arts. My life changed direction in 1995 when my son was born with multiple disabilities & complex health needs, and I became a full time carer.

Having an acute awareness of the positive impact access to the arts can have on personal development and well-being from my time as a teacher, I worked hard to find inclusive activities we could enjoy as a family. This included accessing sensory workshops with integrated performance opportunities for my son with disabilities. We regularly sought access to mainstream cultural events, but often faced multiple barriers when doing so.

I sadly lost my son in 2015, and many years later through my other son’s work as an actor musician working in sensory theatre, I met Oshi and his family. I was saddened & disappointed to learn that years after my own family encountered those barriers, they are still facing similar challenges. I was inspired to use my lived experience to help contribute to the development of further inclusive creative opportunities in Wales & am now proud to be a trustee of Oshi’s World.

Co-Founder & Trustee

I am one of the three founders of Oshi’s World, along with my two sisters, Helen and Anna (Oshi’s mum). As a mum of two girls, I have first hand experience of the complexities of socialising as a family in a community that isn’t made accessible for all abilities. I set out to support the charity in 2016, which led to the creation of a community with children at the heart of it. I’m proud to experience how the charity has evolved – using our learning to access play and immersive experiences for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) through the arts. Working with talented members of the Oshi’s World community, I leave the artistic innovation in the capable hands of others, and I can help out a little behind the scenes acting as the charity’s treasurer. As a statistician, I love a spreadsheet! I also love playing netball and all that comes with team sport; particularly inclusivity and achievement. Oshi’s World provides similar benefits to PMLD children, who are an integral part of the team in achieving inclusivity.

I’m a mum to 2 boys Reuben and Theo , going on adventures with them is my favourite thing to do. I am currently studying in university to become a nurse, and am looking forward to this next chapter of my working life. Previously to that I have over 15 years experience working with children and young people  with disabilities and complex health care needs, within an educational setting and as a PA in the community. I managed a hydrotherapy pool for 8 years delivering bespoke sessions to children through water therapy and play. Providing a relaxing and fun environment for them to enjoy and be themselves was just magical. I was a gymnast for many years through my childhood and it was great to be able to express my creative side through gymnastics. It’s a privilege to be at trustee for Oshi’s World, and I’m excited to be a part of the charities exciting future.

I’m a Consultant Paediatrician, specialising in the care of children and young people with complex health and developmental needs. I understand that access to the arts and creative world is essential for our health, well-being and learning as children and adults. I play the piano, am a member of a choir and love a good karaoke with friends. Music is therapy, and I am so excited to be part of our charity’s mission to make music, creativity and art more accessible to people and families living with disability.
