We well and truly spoilt ourselves!
Towards the end of last year, I received a phone call from Flamingo Chicks offering Oshi’s World some funding to run an event for parents and carers. This is something I have always wanted to do but having the funding give me the push I needed to get organising! I asked the parents who joined our new membership scheme what sort of event they would like and time and again the ladies requested pampering!!
As Oshi’s mum, I know first-hand that it can be pretty difficult to simply relax and switch off from all of Oshi’s medical needs, let alone find the time actually treat myself! Needless to say, I was in total agreement with the rest of the ladies that we needed this evening to spoil ourselves!
So, on Sunday 20th January, we turned Byrd Crescent Community Centre into a venue filled with aromatherapy, blankets, relaxation beds and fabulous food!!
I have to say the only way I was able to stick to our budget was down to the outstanding generosity of our wonderful community and a second donation from CaN Enviro Plumbing Cardiff. The evening was a huge success, enjoyed by all. Don’t take my word for it though, here are some the comments from our ladies themselves;
“Food- Amazing” “Great choice of therapies” “Lovely well organised event” "I've had a brill time, just what I needed- thank you"
“Chilled and laid back, lovely treatments” “Great fun, great food, welcoming” "Thank you so much for organising such a successful afternoon!"
“Very relaxing” “Great treatments” “Lovely catch up with other mums” "Great food, great experience, thank you for a lovely night, great job!"
Honey to The Brie created the most beautiful grazing board for us which was kindly donated and gave the evening an extra special touch! https://www.honeytothebrie.co.uk/
The following therapists donated their time and talents to ensuring our parents could relax and have some time to themselves.
Rachel from Perfection in Penarth spoilt the ladies with a nail strengthening mini- manicure. www.facebook.com/perfectionbs/

Jan, a regular volunteer at Oshi’s World, gave our parents the complete package with a full body “No Hands” Massage.
Amanda from The Body Shop gave us the opportunity to sample their lovely products through hand massage and facials, leaving us super smooth and glowing! www.facebook.com/amandas-beauties-at-home-323885948188187
Cheryl and Danielle from Holistic Sound Therapies offered reiki and crystal facials which, for many of our ladies was a first and opened a calm and relaxed mind, ready to face the week. https://www.holisticsoundtherapies.co.uk/

I thank each and every one of you on behalf of Oshi’s World and the ladies for all coming together and making this evening a very special one. Keep a look out for our next parent/carer event, you have given me lots of ideas, I can't wait to get planning!
